He felt this concept worked because it wasn't sufficiently masculine previously, and modeled Marinette's hairstyle after the woman's haircut. Astruc intended Ladybug to be an "awesome," bright character comparable to Spider-Man, linking her powers to luck while ensuring she could be action-oriented yet wear pink. In early development, Marinette was originally planned to be older; however, the production team ultimately decided to shift the show to 3D animation.
